Land Use and Zoning
Attorneys specializing in Land Use and Zoning represent lenders, property owners and community association in all facets of governmental and environmental permitting, zoning matters, due diligence and drainage district issues. We represent clients in obtaining developments of regional impact, comprehensive land use plan amendments, general and specific master plan amendments, zoning variances and changes, site planning and platting and other project approvals. Our attorneys also serve as aggressive advocates in hearings and other matters before local, state and federal administrative bodies.
This Practice Group combines the talents and expertise of our real estate, land use, litigation and community association attorneys to assist lenders, developers and investors in these somewhat chaotic and uncertain economic times. As lenders increasingly become owners of real estate, our attorneys work with banks, insurance companies, and asset managers on due diligence matters and to develop an overall sales or leasing and management plan for both real-estate owned and portfolio-held assets. Each asset has its own land use and zoning issues and the Practice Group’s attorneys assist clients in obtaining and reviewing all permits and entitlements.
The attorneys in this Group work closely with the attorneys in the Commercial Litigation, Bankruptcy & Appeals Group and present formidable foreclosure experience to clients, guiding them through multimillion-dollar loan foreclosures, and workouts of distressed commercial properties, including hotels, condominiums, shopping centers, office buildings, recreational facilities, raw and developed land, and planned unit developments. Our foreclosure clients include banks, real estate investment trusts, savings and loan associations, and insurance companies. Our interdisciplinary structure allows our clients to benefit from the collective experience of all firm attorneys.
The Practice Group has also represented investors in bulk acquisitions of condominium units, and counseled community associations controlled by lenders and developers in varying degrees of distressed situations.
